About DSW
The thought of writing a book horrified me. The sheer scale of it, overwhelming. As a reader, I adored the short stories of O. Henry, Edgar Allan Poe, A. A. Milne, and others. I have acting skills too. As the years have passed, I hear my father’s rich voice rise from me; that seemed something to take advantage of. I'm Irish. That's where I began. This combination led me to write and record a series of essays. I decided to pick unpromising beginnings, make a few jokes, and then see where it took me. The result is something honest, unflinching, unresolved and idiotic. It's revealing, although I would never let truth get in the way of a good story.
I would like to think it all made sense, but I know it doesn't. Think of this as a nice day out, with the occasional ice cream.
